FRUITGROWERS ANGRY

LOSS THROUGH TRANSPORT RAILWAY DEPARTMENT BLAMED Press Association THAMES, Today. Fruitgrowers at a meeting last evening passed the following resolution: “This meeting of Thames fruitgrowers expresses the utmost dissatisfaction at the erratic train service for the transport of perishable fruit, provided by the Railway Department in this and preceding seasons. It has been the cause of enormous and unnecessary financial loss to growers, whose main means of livelihood is regular marketing. The meeting calls upon the Minister to take urgent and Immediate steps to remedy the position, as the growers are satisfied, after making every allowance, that the fault lies solely with the department If no satisfactory action is taken in the next few days the growers intend organising their own motor services for the transport of the crop, which is exceptionally large this year.
