TE PUKE INTERESTS
The usual monthly statement issued by the Bay of Plenty Dairy Association, To Puke, shows that the butter manufactured for the period Julv 1 to December 31, 1929, was 881 tons, an increase of 61 tons over the same period in 1925. The payments made to suppliers for the period, 3 929, were £116,593, as against £108,350 in the 1928 period. The association will pay out on January 20 for December butter-fat, £33,960, an Increase of £5,142 over December, 1925. The amount of butter-fat received in December, 1929, was 468,3261 b. Through the heavy rains dring the past month, many farmers in the district have suffered severe losses in regard to hay for winter feeding. In many instancs ensilage stacks and silos have been erected in an endeavour to retain enough feed for the stock. Dearth of labour to get the crops in during the fine intervals has also caused a deal of loss. Although 3s an hour for ordinary time, and 6s an hour for Sunday work, is being paid, labour is practically unprocurable.
