FAMILY LEAVES IN NIGHT ATTIRE FIRE AT TAKANINI Awakened by the smell of smoke belehing into her room in the early hours of this morning, a 13-year-old girl roused her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christiansen, who made a hurried escape from their burning home in Manaroa Road, Takanini. When Mr. Christiansen opened the kitchen door to investigate the cause of the outbreak a sheer of flame swept out. The parents rushed the younger child, aged two. from the front bedroom out of the front door to safely. The flames quickly enveloped the whole building, and the intense heat making Mr. Christiansen’s efforts to save any of the furniture impossible. The occupants were obliged to make their exit in night attire. The house was covered by a policy in the Norwich Union Office for a small sum. It was owned by Mr. Collins. The contents were a total loss.
