TEACHER EXONERATED
QUESTIONING OF BOY NOT HARSH EDUCATION BOARD’S INQUIRY An echo of the appeal against the Child Welfare Court finding a nine-year-old boy attending tile Avondale school guilty of theft of his teacher’s money, which was later quashed in the Supreme Court, was the Education Board’s decision today exonerating the headmaster of any harshness in questioning the boy. The Child Welfare Court placed the lad under the control of the Child Welfare Superintendent for two years, and ordered his parents to make restitution, but on appeal the Supreme Court quashed both orders. Following this, the Education Board conducted an inquiry into the conduct of the headmaster in questioning the boy, the findings being submitted to the board today, when they were considered in committee. In exonerating the headmaster, the board expressed regret that he had been subjected to such a strain.
