Temperature in shade yesterday.—— Maximum, 70deg; minimum. 57deg; maximum temperature in sun, 14ldeg. Bright sunshine yesterday, 10 hours minutes. _ O , Minimum temperature on grass, o-deg. Direction and force of wind at 9 a.m., N.W. 2, light breeze. Velocity wind previous hours, zob miles. Weather conditions at 9 a.m.. fine. Humidity at 9 a.m., 80 per cent. Rainfall during previous 24 hours, .09m. Rainfall to date this month, 4.65 in. Days with rain this month, 7. Record rainfall for January 1907, 7.45 in. Average for January, 2.77 in. NORTH ISLAND CONDITIONS

WAIPU, due at Auckland at 1 a.m. tomorrow from Kerepeehi, leaves again at 11 a.m. on Thursday for Kerepeehi, Kopu and Turua. WAIMEA is now to leave Auckland at 6 o’clock this evening on her return trip to Gisborne and Napier. WINGATUI is to load at Dunedin on Thursday, thence Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier and Gisborne, for Auckland.
