PORT CAMPBELL DELAYED.—The C and D. Line advises that the departure of the Port Campbell, from Wellington for London, via Panama Canal, has been further postponed until noon on Thursday. TARANAKI LEAVES COLON. —Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Con ,ny that the Taranaki left Colon on afternoon for Dunkirk and London, en route from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on December 21. FERNDALE LEAVES CAIRNS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company has been notified by cable that the Ferndale left Cairns (Queensland) at noon on Friday for Timaru, to commence loading for London. The vessel is due at Timaru on Thursday. CHARLBURY DUE.—With a cargo of phosphates for discharge at Auckland and New Plymouth, the steamer Charlbury is due at Auckland on Thursday afternoon from Casablanca, Morocco, according to a radio message received by Henderson and Macfarlane. She will berth at the King’s Wharf. COPTIC AT SUVA.—On Sunday evening the Shaw, Savill and Albion motorship Coptic arrived at Suva from London. The vessel, which is bringing cargo also for Auckland, Port Chalmers and Wellington, is due here next Sunday. A. S. Paterson, and Company will act as the local agent PORT DENISON REPORTS. —According to a radio message received by Heather, Roberton, Limited, the C. and D. Line’s steamer Port Denison is expected to arrive at Auckland next Monday morning from Liverpool. The vessel is bringing general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. MARAMA FROM SYDNEY. The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Marama arrived in the stream at Auckland early this morning from Sydney, and later berthed at the Central Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. The vessel left the New South Wales port last Friday afternoon, and experienced a good weather passage across the Tasman Sea. The Marama is scheduled to leave Auckland at 3 o’clock next Friday afternoon on her return trip to Sydney. AUSTRALIND IN PORT. —An arrival at Auckland this morning was the motorship Australind, from New York, via Suva. She was berthed at the Queen’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. The vessel, which has cargo also for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Queensland ports, is chartered by the A. and A. Line. The vessel, which is on her maiden voyage to New Zealand, loaded at New York, and left there on December 8. Panama was reached on December 17, and, after oiling there, passed through the Canal the following day. Suva was reached on January 7, and the Australind cleared again last Friday. Except for unusual rain squalls between Balboa and Suva, the vessel experienced a good passage throughout her run. Since leaving New York she has averaged lli knots. Like her sister ship, the Armadale, the Australind has a patent rudder. On the Australind it is a wedge shape, streamline balance rudder and has given excellent results. One of the greatest* results is that when the ship has practically lost all way the rudder will still function, thus giving a great help in berthing. This is a patent of the builders, Denny Bros., of Dumbarton. Captain A. Hunter, who was master of the old Australind, is in command, and has the following officers with him:— Chief, Mr. C. R. Cox; second, Mr. C. L. Williams; third, Mr. R. A. Jones; chief engineer, Mr. W. Templton; second, Mr. J. S. Davidson; third, Mr. J. D. Mundie; fourth, Mr. C. S. Lawrence; fifth, Mr. D. Armstrong; sixth, Mr. W. Brown; wireless operator, Mr. J. L. Grant; chief steward, Mr. C. L. Middleton. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel from Auckland on Thursday afternoon for Southern ports.
MAKURA FOR SYDNEY. —In continuation of her voyage from San Francisco and way ports, the Union Company’s R.M.S. Mukura leaves Wellington at 10 o’clock this evening for Sydney* MELBOURNE SERVICE.—The local office of the Union Company advises that the passenger steamer Maheno leaves Wellington at 5 p.ra. today, Lyttelton on Thursday, Dunedin on Saturday and Bluff next Monday for Melbourne. TOFUA AT SUVA. —At midnight last evening the Union Company’s Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Suva from Apia, Samoa. At noon on Thursday she leaves the Fijian port for Auckland, where she is due next Monday. ANTONIO REPORTS. —Spedding, Limited, has been advised by radio that the steamer Antonio is due at Auckland on Thursday afternoon from Peru. The vessel is bringing a cargo of raw sugar for discharge at the Colonial Sugar Company’s works at Chelsea. DURENDA DUE TOMORROW. —With Eastern merchandise from Calcutta and Singapore, the 8.1. steamer Durenda is due at Auckland tomorrow from Sydney. She will berth at the Queen’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo under the agency of the Union Company before proceeding to Wellington to complete discharge. CANADIAN HIGHLANDER TO DOCK —The Canadian Highlander is to dock at Auckland on Thursday to have a new blade fitted to her propeller in place of the one she stripped when on her way from Balboa to New Zealand. Later she goes to Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin to complete discharge. CANADIAN CONQUEROR TO LOAD. —The Canadian Conqueror leaves Wellington this afternoon for Auckland, where she is due on Thursday evening to complete her loading. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel from here on Friday for New York, Boston and Halifax, via Panama. FERNDALE LEAVES NEW ORLEANS.—CabIe advice has been received by Henderson and Macfarlane that the Danish motor-ship Ferndale left New Orleans last Saturday for San Francisco, where she completes her loading for Auckland and Australia. She is expected to arrive here about the middle of next month. MITTELMEER RADIOS.—Radio advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane states that the tanker Mittelmeer, which is bringing bulk oil for the Atlantic Union Oil Company for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney, is due here on Thursday morning from San Pedro. She will berth at the Western Wharf. SURREY TO LOAD.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the Federal steamer Surrey is to leave Waikokopu tomorrow afternoon for Auckland, where she is due the following day to complete her loading. She is scheduled to sail finally from this port on January 21 for New York, Halifax ai.d London, via Panama. POOLTA REPORTS.—According to a radio message received by the local office of the Union Company, the steamer Poolta is due at Auckland at 6 a.m. on Thursday from Grafton and Newcastle. The. vessel, which is bringing a cargo of hardwoods for discharge at Auckland. Tauranga, Dunedin, New Plymouth and Greymouth, will berth at the King’s Wharf. RUAPEHU LEAVES TENERIFFE.— According to advice received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the steamer Ruapehu, which loaded in New Zealand and sailed from Dunedin on December 3 for London, and west coast ports of England, via Punta, Arena and Teneriffe, left the latter port on January 10. AORANGI SAILS.—In continuation of her voyage from Sydney, the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi left Auckland this morning for Suva, Honolulu, Victoria and Vancouver. PASSENGERS BY RUAHINE.-Th* New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine, which is to sail from Napier at midnight tonight for London and Southampton, will take the following saloon passengers:—Aliss E. SOUTHERN CROSS RETL RNS.—After a trip of 7,500 miles, in which 165 calls were made, the Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross returned to Auckland late last evening. The vessel left Auckland on September 24 and visited the New Hebrides, Torres, Banks and Solomon groups, beautiful weather being experienced over the whole voyage. The ship was delayed on her first visit to the Solomons through sickness on the Islands, but the isolation ban was lifted on returning. The passengers who returned by the Southern Cross were: Bishop Alolyneux, Dr. E. C. Fox, the Rev. G. West, Messrs. H. Seaton, and H. Hogger, Air. and Mrs. Freshwater and Aliss Fox.
