METHODIST CHURCH WORK

AUCKLAND CENTRAL CIRCUIT The Auckland Central Methodist Circuit held its quarterly meeting in the Pitt Street Church last evening. The Rev. W. Walker presided. It was stated that the membership showed an increase of 31 for the quarter. The financial position was satisfactory, £BOO having been raised during the quarter. The report on young people’s work was encouraging, a work to the importance of which the church was fully alive. The furthering of the work in the circuit was discussed, and it was stated that the establishment of Christian Endeavour Societies where they did not already exist, would give the young people the opportunity for self-expression. It was decided to forward the recommendation to the leaders’ meetings. Reference was made to the death of Mr. J. Brenkley, and a motion of sympathy with relatives was passed. Mr. Henry Field was congratulated on completing 50 years as a local preacher in the circuit. Mr. Field, it was said, had occupied every office open to a layman in the Methodist Church. Messrs. J. Maginness and L. E. Rhodes were re-elected circuit stewards, and Messrs. F. G. Steinert, G. Higgott and Rhodes were appointed delegates to the Methodist Conference in Wellington next month.
