SCULLING CONTEST
MASON RACING WITH HADFIELD EVENT .FOR HOKIANGA Special to THE SUN KAITAIA, Today. Definite arrangements have been made for the approaching sculling race on a course in the Hokianga River for the New Zealand championship title and a purse of sovereigns. J. Mason, the holder, and Darcy IJadfield, formerly champion of the world, are the contenders and the race will take place on Thursday, February 27. Other rowing centres have sought the race, but, with the consent of the competitors, Mr. R. E. Hornblow, New Zealand president of th.e Australasian Sculling Council, arranged for the race to be held at Hokianga. Both men are training. Accompanied by their trainers, the men are expected to arrive at Hokianga a fortnight before the race.
