WEDDING AT HUNTLY
THREE COUSINS AS BRIDESMAIDS SHANLEY—SMITH A very pretty wedding was celebrated in the Catholic Church, Huntly, on December 26, when Doreen Gladys Shanley. only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Shanley, of Huntly, was married to Albert Francis Smith, of Pittston, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, and wore a dainty frock of ivory satin beaute and georgette, with a tight-fitting corsage and frilled skirt, finished with a large hipbow. A beautiful shoulder spray of orange blossom was worp. Her silk hand-embroidered net veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and silver leaves, from which a cluster of silver bells hung over one shoulder. A bouquet of Christmas lilies and white carnations was carried. The bride’s three cousins were in attendance, Miss Gladys Nicholls, of Onehunga, wearing a frock of mauve taffeta with a scalloped hem trimmed with taffeta roses. Miss Mavis Young was in a frock of blue crepe de chine with a tiered skirt, while Miss Eileen Vernon, of Te Aroha, wore a frock of daffodil crepe de chine in a similar style. All three wore tulle headdresses and carried shower bouquets to tone with their frocks. The bridegroom was attended by
Mr. William Green as best man. Air. Cyril Shanley and Air. Joseph Young acted jpis groomsmen. A reception was held later at the residence of the bride’s mother. Airs. Shanley receiving the guests in a frock of henna bengaline, with a hat to tone. Among those present were:—Airs. May, Airs. J. Young, Airs. A. Nicholls, Airs. W. Fleming, Airs. C. George, Airs. N.
