tramping in province Typical of the tramping tours now being undertaken extensively in New Zealand by individuals or by organLed parties, walks in National Park and North Auckland have been completed by Mr. J. Stewart, of Auckland. Before h€* went North, Mr. Stewart spent ten days tramping in Tongariro National Park. He established, with companions, a base at Ohakune hut. Mount Ruapehu was climbed by the route up Mangaturuturu Valley. Mr. Stewart prefers the route to the general track from Whakapapa Hut. In the north, Mr. Stewart tramped from Kiirikopuni up the Mangakawhia to Npkutawhiti.
