INJURIES PROVE FATAL

VICTIM OF CAR SMASH Press Association DARGAVILLE, Today. The death took place at the Northern Wairoa Hospital, Te Kopuru, this morning of Mr. Mervyn McCarroll, 25, single, one of the victims of the motor smash at Clinks Gully on Monday evening. Mr. McCarroll, who was the second sou of Mr. John H. McCarroll, chairman of the Kaipara Hospital Board, with two others on Monday night was motoring on the beach in a home-made racing car. At a sharp turn one front wheel collapsed, the car overturned and pinned Mr. McCarroll and Mr. G. Cates underneath. Mr. J. Elliott, who was riding on the back of the car, was thrown clear. Mr. McCarroll was extricated from the wreckage and found to be badly crushed. Mr. Cates suffered extensive bruises and Mr. Elliott was practically unhurt. ,
