ONEHUNGA METHODISTS

QUARTERLY MEETING HELD The Rev. F. El. Leadley presided over a well-attended quarterly meeting of the Onehunga Methodist Church last evening, when it was repoited that the membership was being steadily maintained. Receipts amounted to £268 18s 7d and expenidture £278 3s 3d, leaving a debit balance of £9 4s Bd. Contributions toward Home Missions realised £BO 9s 9d, Foreign Missions £134 15s 9d, and Indian Mission £lO 10s. Messrs. J. Laking and E. A. Yates notified their retirement as local preachers and were accorded hearty votes of thanks and appreciation of their many years of loyal service. Mr. Wesley Long, who has been recently appointed for missionary work in the Solomon Islands under -the South Seas Evangelistic Association received the congratulations of the meeting, which wished him “Godspeed.” The election of officers resulted: Circuit stewards, Messrs. A. J. Pople and J. Booth; society stewards, Messrs. T. Dunn, G. Gilbert, E. A. Yates, T. Flay, W. H. Hayward and R. Fletcher; Penrose, Mr. C. A. White; Mangere (Westney Road), Messrs. A. W. Westney, H. E. Fly and E. Hight; Walmsley Road, Messrs. S. P. Andrew, D. Ford, V. A. Day and W. E. B. Bridge. The benevolent fund stewards are: Onehunga, Mrs. Somerville, Messrs. T. Dunn and G. Gilbert; Penrose, Mesdames White and Rodgers; Westney Road, - Mesdames Westney and Fly ; Walmsley Road, Mesdames Parker and Day. Lay pastors are:—Mesdames Somerville and Hall, Messrs. Moor, Dunn, Eustace and Yates; representatives to the quarterly board, Mesdames Flay, Pople, Laking and Ashe, Miss Vincent and Mr. T. White; Sunday school representatives, Mrs. Wigmore. Misses I. Smith and B. Leadley and Mr. W. H. Hosking; Penrose, Miss H. Vincent; Mangere, Miss F. Archer. Mr. T. Dunn was appointed Home Mission secretary and Mr. W. R. Eoskings Foreign Mission secretary. Mr. C. E. Goode will represent the circuit at the annual conference, which is to be held at "Wellington on February 30.
