CADETS END TRAINING
SALVATION ARMY WORK Special to THE SUN WELLINGTON, Today. Thirty-six cadets of the centenary session, who have been training for the past 10 months at the garrison in Aro Street, received their commissions on Monday evening from the territorial commander for New Zealand, Commissioner Cunningham. This session was called “The Centenary” since cadets began training on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the army, the late General William Booth. Included in the training was a course in first aid to the injured, and all qualified for certificates. These were presented to them on the platform of the Vivian Street citadel by Mrs. Cunningham. The principal read the sessional report of the work done by the cadets and explained that the army system of training aimed at giving a practical knowledge of platform and openair work, also visitation of the people and Bible study.
