PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD

Advice was received from the Department of Internal Affairs at last evening’s meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board that an Order-in-Council ■had been gazetted granting permission to the board to charge for the quantity of water used by ratepayers from April 1. 1930. The clerk reported that the general account was in debit £BS 12s Sd. The clerk was authorised to make application to the Local Bodies Loans Board for permission to spend an additional £4,000 out of the balance of £ 14,000 water loan, to complete the reticulation of tho roads formed since the raising of the loan. If application for water connection is not made by ratepayers before February 1 it was decided that the cost must be borne by the applicant. A letter was received from the secretary of the Sunnyside Progressive League complaining of the dangerous state of the footpath on Puhinui Road. The complaint was referred to the Works Committee for favourable consideration.
