FATHER'S TRAGIC ERROR
DROVE THREE CHILDREN TO DEATH DROWNED UNDER CAR United P. A. —By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, Tuesday. Three children were drowned today at Jerseyville, near Kempsey, 2SO miles north-east of Sydney. The victims were two daughters and a son of Mr. Charles Barnes, a school teacher of Quambone. Mr. and Mrs. Barnes and their children were having a picnic on the beach when the mother scalded herself as she was brewing some tea. Mr. Barnes placed his family in their motor-car and drove rapidly away to seek medical aid. He lost his way and unwittingly drove into a river. The father and mother came to the surface, but the children were trapped beneath the hood of the car, and it was impossible to rescue them.
