OFFICIALS RESIGN
MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB CINDER TRACK “OUTLAWS” The resignations of three officials of the Sports Motor-cycle Club were accepted with regret at a meeting of the club held in the Chamber of Commerce last evening. About 40 members were present. The officials were Messrs. Cyril i Walker, president; Ken McLaren, a vice-president, and A. McLaren, a committee member. The second vicepresident, Mr. Stan. Brooks, announced that his resignation would be handed in shortly. The first three ride on the cinders at Blandford. Park, a track not affiliated with the Auto Cycle Union, and the latter intends to compete there shortly. It was considered unwise that leading committeemen of the Sports Club, which itself is affiliated with the Auto Cycle Union, should ride in opposition to the union’s wishes. Mr. Walker explained that he wished to resign for another reason also. He has recently become a direct representative of the motorcycle trade. These members will not be barred from taking part in future race meetings and other events organised by the Sports Club. The meeting then reaffirmed a recent resolution expressing its decision to support the Auto Cycle Union. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. W. Marrett; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. A. Myers and A. Tierney; committeemen, Messrs. J. Reiman and A. Bowler. A debt of £24 ISs 2d is still outstanding in connection with the club’s trial case regarding the legality of the pillion-riding by-law. An offer of Auckland Speedways, Limited, which controls racing at Western Springs, of a pound for pound subsidy on any amount raised towards reducing this debt by means of a special hill climb or other feature, was accepted with thanks. The committee will decide the date and place of the hill climbing tests.
