HAMILTON NEWS
The funeral of Mr. R. H. Boyd, late chief postniaster at Hamilton, and later at Wellington, held at the Hamilton East cemetery yesterday, was widely attended. Three of the pallbearers belong to Mr. Boyd’s lodge, and three were postal officials. The chief mourners were Mr. Wyveru Wilson, S.M., and Mesrs. Magi 11. sen., and Magill. jun., of Te Arotaa. The Rev. J. T. Burrows officiated at the | graveside. Since Saturday the Waikato River j i at Hamilton has risen 3ft. but is now subsiding. The river paths on both banks of the river are under water. Unless fine weather continues over the next month, haymaking operations throughout the Waikato will be very seriously impeded, and many farmers may have to sell their stock. Hay cut immediately before the rain will be too green to be affected to any great extent, although the more advanced crops will be wasted. Ensilage production has fared better.
