CROWDED TRAINS

HOLIDAY-MAKERS RETURN Homeward - bound holidaymakers crowded the three expresses for the South last evening. The trains carried a total of about 1,400 passengers. The Limited carried a full booking of 300, and the second express drew 17 carriages, containing GSO passengers. The third train consisted of II carriages, containing 450 persons. The crowd at the station was so dense that passengers found it difficult to reach the platform. The Limited express from Wellington was half an hour late in reaching Auckland this morning owing to heavy passenger traffic and trouble at crossings.
