Old Boys, 211 for six wickets (declared), and 38 for one, beat Midland. 94 and 169. University, 309, beat Institute, 205. Wellington, 233 and 126, beat Kilbirnie, 149 and 117 for eight. Hutt, 183 and 21 for one, beat Petone, 151 and 128 two, declared. The best batting performances were the following:—E. T. C. Leys (University), 108 not out; W. A. Baker (Midland), 70; M. F. Nicholls (Petone), 69; R. H. C. Mackenzie (University), 65; S. Ward (Kilbirnie), 52. Those who were most successful with the ball were:—W. J. R. Christopherson (Kilbirnie), five for 37, and F. T. Badcock (Old Boys), five for 55. BEALE’S TEAM BEATEN Press Associatio?i TIMARU, Saturday. South Canterbury defeated Mr. E. C. Beale’s Auckland touring team by five wickets. The visitors made 151 and 125 (Lyon 30, Lawrie 30, Vivian 35). Seaton took four wickets for 29, McBeath three for 24. The home team required 179 to win In two hours, securing the runs off the first ball of the last over of the day. Hamilton played a fine innings of 92 not out, and Mason made 72. DUNEDIN DOINGS Press Association DUNEDIN, Sunday. The Old Boys’—Carisbrook game resulted in a draw, play ceasing in the middle of the afternoon owing to heavy rain. Carisbrook had made 134 runs and Old Boys had two wickets down for 23 when play started. With the latter’s score at 38 for two wickets play ceased for the day. Dunedin scored a two-point win over Albion. Dunedin made 179 in its first innings and disposed of Albion for 40. Claridge took two wickets for 7 and Torrance four for 6. Christian Brothers defeated Grange (89) on the first innings. The winners, who were 69 for four wickets, made 100 for the loss of six wickets when rain stopped Play. CHRISTCHURCH COMPETITION Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Tho sixth round of grade matches was concluded yesterday in fine, but windy weather. Old Boys, 333 for seven wickets, declared (Carleton 110), beat St. Albans, 126 and 116. Carleton took three wickets for 6. Sydenham 238 (Newman 78), defeated Riccarton, 153 and 88 for two. Lindwood, 231 for eight, declared (Davis 56 not out), beat West Christchurch, 134 and 88 for four. East Christchurch, 181 (Ken-’ nedy 51), defeated Old Collegians, 71 and 182.
