BATH FOR VAGRANT

ELDERLY MAN REMANDED “See that he gets a bath,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when Christopher John Hall was remanded at the Police Court this morning, on a charge of being idle and disorderly, having insufficient visible means of support. Hall, a labourer aged 61, answered the charge by saying he was out of work at the present time, but would take a job as soon as he could get it. “My name has been on the unemployed register for some time,” he said. Detective-Sergeant Kelly suggested that Hall be remanded for a cleanup, as he was in a filthy condition. “He wants a bath.” Mr. Kelly added. “Yes. he can’t go to a camp in that condition,” assented the magistrate, ordering a week’s remand.
