CHILEAN STEAMER LOST OFTPERU PASSENGERS SAFE VANCOUVER, Thursday. A message from Lima, Peru, says a Chilean steamer, the Mapocho, was pounded into a total wreck 200 miles north of Callao, the principal seaport of Peru. Ail the passengers were landed safely in the ship’s boats. ~T he Mapocho -was a vessel of 2,652 tons. B J2 by Laird Brothers hl ? ad ’ » nd was owned by the American Steamship Company. Her port of registry was Valparaiso.
