CATHEDRAL DAMAGED
FIERCE GALE BRINGS MASONRY DOWN LONDON, Friday. At the height of a fierce gale, the pinnacle was blow-n off the west front of York Minster, and 15cwt of masonry crashed to the ground. The gale reached a velocity of 91 miles an hour at Liverpool, SO at Glasgow, and 71 at Southport. York Minster is one of the most finely proportioned cathedrals in England, and one of the most interesting in detail. It has a central tower 216 feet high, and the western towers are each 202 feet high.
