CASUAL PORT LABOUR

COMMITTEE TACKLING PROBLEMS Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Friday. At the request of the Minister of Labour, a committee under the chairmanship of Sir Donald Maclean is engaged in inquiries in connection with the problem of port labour. These inquiries have as their object the co-ordination and extension of registration schemes and other measures for eliminating casual port labour. The committee has already issued two interim reports and has also communicated with the ports urging the adoption of certain measures.
