LIVE GIRL IN COFFIN
READY FOR GRAVE WHEN POLICE ARRIVE HYPNOTIC STUNT CHECKED LONDON, Friday. Astonishing scenes occurred outside a theatre in Staffordshire. A touring hypnotist issued a £ 200 challenge that he would bury a hypnotised girl Sft deep and allow her to remain buried half an hour.
More than 2,000 people surged around the spot to witness the spectacle. A steel coffin was about to be lowered into a hole in the ground when a large force of policemen intervened and prevented the incident. The crowd howled defiance at the policemen when they realised that they were to he deprived of a free show.
Order was eventually restored by the hypnotist agreeing to desist. He said that if he were arrested he would have to prove that the girl would have been in no danger and that would have taken a lot of doing. The girl concerned was annoyed. She said she would not mind being buried for two hours.
