HARBOUR MYSTERY
WOMAN PROGRESSING SATISFACTORILY MAN STILL MISSING Satisfactory progress is being made by Mrs. Julia'Cubitt, the woman who was found oh the eastern tide deflector on Wednesday. She was removed to the Auckland Hospital in an unconscious condition, but though she had recovered partially yesterday she is not yet in a condition to give any information. .■'No trace has yet been found of Mr. ■J. L. Davies, who left his home in Taumata , Road, Edendale, on Tuesday afternoon. His coat and hat were found on the waterfront near King’s Drive, together with similar articles belonging to the woman and a number of letters written by the pair in which they intimated their intention of committing suicide together. In connection with Mr. Davies, the missing man, dragging operations are being carried out on both sides of the tide deflector. If the body is in the water at all, it is considered likely that the back-flow would carry it toward Waterfront Road or toward the boat harbour, and it might be under the rocks.
