THAMES BEATS TE AROHA

From Our Own Correspondent THAMES, Friday. The challenge match for the Court Cricket Cup was played at Thames on Thursday. The challenger was Te Aroha, but it was unsuccessful in its attempt to lift the cup. Thames batted first and made 165 (R. Cleave 22, W. Baker 19, G. Twentyman 13, G. Buchan 28, J. Fox 35, F. Gibson 17). Te Aroha’s first strike realised 111 (Boyd 11, Kemp 26, Hardman 21, McGlashan 25). In its second innings, Thames declared with five wickets for 251. Ray Buchan and R. Cleave retired with 102 each. W. Baker scored 36. Requiring 305 to win, Te Aroha went in a second time, and had seven wickets down for 37 when stumps were drawn. F. Gibson bowled three for 17, and R. Buchan three for 8.
