SUCCESSFUL WAIHI EVENT From Our Own Correspondent WAIHI, Friday. The annual sports under the auspices of the Waihi Beach Sports Club were held at the beach yesterday, when there was a very large attendance of visitors. Approximately SOO toys were distributed to the children. Following are the results of the principal events: — „ . _ __ Richards Cup Handicap, 120yds.—E. Furey, 1; E. Dye, 2. _ , __ Local Residents’ Cup, 100yds. —K. Birchall, 1; E. Furey, 2; W. Kemp, 3. High Jump, 14 years and under.—Jordan 1; West, 2. Men’s High Jump.-W. Whelan (Paei*oa), 1; Baker (Hamilton High School), 2. The winner- cleared the bar at sft 2in. Married "Women’s Race.—Mrs. Richmond, 1; Mrs. W. Tanner, 2. Married Men’s Race, under 45 years.— Davies, 1; Walsh, 2; "Williams, 3. Married Men’s Race, over 50 years.—C. Dillimore, 1; E. Griffin, 2. Miners’ Race, over 50 years, for New Guinea gold nugget donated by Mr. J. Delaney.—J. Kemp, 1; H. A. Pipe, 2.
