TO BUILD OWN SHIPS
AUSTRALIA’S PROPOSAL TO HELP INDUSTRY AIR LINE PROJECTED Reed. 10.50 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Drastic changes in the shipping policy of the Federal Government are forecast. A proposal will be submitted to a caucus that legislation be passed ensuring that all vessels engaged in the Australian ti’ade should be built in Australia. The object is to give an impetus to the shipbuilding industry, which is passing through a period of acute depression. Unemployed men will also be absorbed. Another suggestion is the establishment of a line of three vessels for the Tasmanian trade. The caucus will also be asked to establish a passenger aerial service with Tasmania.
