MILLIONAIRE IN GAOL

SUN-BATHS TO CURE HIM OF PRISON BLUES SIXTH WEEK IN THE CELLS Received 1,9 p.m. LOS ANGELES, Sunday. The authorities intend giving Alexander Pantages sun-baths in the nude, to cure him of his prison psychosis. The multi-millionaire showman, after six weeks in gaol, pleaded that he was dying from heart disease. Six physicians confirmed this diagnosis, which Pantages had made of himself; but the judge declined to release him on bail, because of the physicians’ assurance that all that ailed him was worry at being locked up—something that troubles many miscreants during their first months in prison. Life in gaol is preying on his mind, so he will get sun and diet treatment, the same as recently was given to Asa Keyes, a former district attorney, who is pantages’s cell-mate. Pantages is in gaol for indecent assault on a young dancer who was engaged in his big theatre circuit.
