INTER-SECTION PLAY . COMMENCES TWENTY-TWO TEAMS The Auckland" Bowling Centre’s Christmas tournament advanced another stage this morning when intersection play commenced at 8.45 on the Carlton green. The conclusion of the section play on Saturday evening saw 22 rinks go forward to contest the second of the eliminating series. As in the section play keen competition is anticipated before the semi-finals and finals are reached. Carlton green was in splendid order, and playing very true. Following the uncertain weather conditions experienced during the past few days, bright sunshine came as a welcome change. In tho first round this morning there were several very closely contested games, and spectators were rewarded with good bowling 1 to interest them. The game between E. B. Wright (Onehunga) and C. Muston (Auckland) was particularly interesting. With one hpad to go, both had 14 on the board, but on the last head, in which some excellent play was seen by the leads and skips, the Onehunga rink took the garpe by a point. Chapman’s Hamilton team won the South Auckland Centre’s tournament against Adarhson’s Thames team by 22 to 17. The game was an exciting one and varied considerably as the game progressed. At tho 17th head both teams were level. 16, but from then onward, Chapman put on points. By winning this time Chapman takes the shield and pennant for the third time and also the Fraser Smith 'Gup for the highest number of wins for the third time also.
