CATTLE KILLED AND HOMES WRECKED HUGE FLOODED AREAS Reed. Noon. SYDNEY, Today. Floods in the south and terrific storms in the north and north-west have caused widespread damage and dislocated telegraph and railway services. On the south coast washaways occurred on the railway lines, the water being 3ft over the permanent way. The outskirts of the town of Cootamundra are flooded and a huge inland sea extends for miles. A terrific electric storm was followed by a cyclonic storm which caused enormous damage in the Grafton district. Cattle were struck dead by lightning, homes were wrecked and the town plunged into darkness. Many persons had remarkable escapes from death.
