TRANSPORT VACANCY
POLL ON MONDAY QUALIFICATIONS TO VOTE To fill :he vacancy on the Auckland Transport Board caused by the resignation of Mr. F. S. Morton, an election will be held on Monday in the districts of Onehunga, One Tree Hill, Mount Roakill, Mount Wellington, Ellerslie and Panmure. Three candidates go to the poll— Mr. G. E. Tansley, a member of the Mount Roskill Road Board, Mr. E. Morton, Mayor of Onehunga, and Mr. R. G. Clark, a member of the One Tree Hill Road Board and of the Auckland Electric-Power Board. The right to vote is the same as that possessed by the electors with respect to their own local bodies. Thus in Onehunga and the Ellerslie town district, th.e voting will be in accordance with Parliamentary franchise, that is to say, persons entitled to vote •will be all persons over the age of 21 who have been in the district for three months and whose names are on the rolls. In the case of One Tree Hill, Mount Roskill and Mount Wellington road districts, and Panmure township, the franchise is confined to ratepayers only, but whereas electors in these districts have more than one vote, according to their property valuations when it conaes to local elections, they will be limited to one vote only in the Transport Board election. Polling hours will be between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. For the convenience of electors votes may be recorded at any polling place within the entire constituency. Thus a person residing say, in Mount Roskill may. if he so desires, vote in, say, Ellerslie.
