TAURANGA’S BIG DAY
GOOD RACING AT ANNUAL REGATTA SUCCESS OF HAMILTON From Our Own Correspondent TAUKANGA, Friday. Keenly contested rowing events formed the chief feature of the annual regatta held in splendid weather today. The successes were divided between the seven clubs competing: and the entries were quite good. There was a record attendance, excursion trains from the Waikato and Whakatane districts being well patronised.
It was unfortunate that W. A. \ Stevenson (Waitemata) did not start j in the sculls, as the meeting between him and W. Turner, the New Zealand j champion, was anticipated as likely to ; be one of the most important events . of tlie day. There were two entries j only in the seniors, but racing of the j greatest interest was provided by the j other classes and the regatta was a complete success. Hamilton was remarkably consistent, gaining four tirsts and four seconds. Tauranga was next on tlie list with three firsts and a second. Auckland and Xorth Shore were most successful of the city clubs with a first and a second each.
