TWENTY MEN SAVED BY LIFELINE.—-Twenty Italian seamen were taken by lifeline from the stranded steamer Nimbo at Portobello, midway between Brighton and Newhaven, leaving the captain, a Lloyds agent and 10 of the crew on board. The beach was strewn with wreckage. Huge planks told of the holes that had been torn in the vessel’s stern and engine-room. Photograph shows one of the Italians reaching the cliff-top in safety by means of the lifeline.
