Nelsonian Wins In Mud at Westport

FINAL DAY’S CARD

Special to THE SUN

WESTPORT, Friday,

The Westport Trotting Club's summer fixture reached finality today under adverse climatic conditions. Heavy rain fell almost incessantly and the track became a sea of mud.” Despite this drawback the attendance was good and the totalisator handled £6,624. against £8,498 for the second day last year. The figures for the meeting reached £17,455, compared with £17,931 in 1928.

Backers of favourites had an off day, Billon Chimes being the only first public selection to wm during the day. The Williams Memorial drew a small field, the trotter All Beters being elected favourite. The winner turned up in Nelsonian, one of B. Berkett’s string, who was well handled by N. Kearns.
