BOOTLEG LIQUOR

FEWER XMAS CASUALTIES IN NEW YORK BETTER QUALITY DRINK Reed. 11 a.m. NEW YORK, Thurs. New York’s medical health officer, Dr. Norris, warns the world’s wettest city: “If you must drink in this bootleg era, do your drinking not more than five minutes away from a doctor.” The toll of dead, blinded and paralysed persons claimed by Christmas stimulants in other years was conspicuous by its absence this year. Dr. Norris believes New York people drank more than formerly this year, but that the liquor is now much better.

A hundred people were given hospital treatment as a result of excessive drinking in New York.
