Two Maori Children Found Poisoned
DEATH AT PA LEFT ALONE IN HOUSE From Our Own Corespondent HAMILTON, Thursday. The dead bodies of two Maori Children, Wera Wera, a girl aged 14 years, and Jack Kara, aged six years, were found at the pa near Tauwhare this morning. Death was apparently due to poisoning. The pa is between Fencourt and Tauwhare, and last evening the natives visited another pa, where a wedding feast was in progress. The two children were left by themselves, and this morning, when the other natives went to wake them, they found the children dead in bed. A tin of poison, used for killing rabbits, was on a shelf in the room. When the bodies were examined by Dr. Todd, of Cambridge, he expressed the opinion that the children had eaten some of the poison. An inquest will be held.
