Johnson, a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, announces the commencement of the construction of a 1,400-ton yacht, which will have complete laboratories and scientific equipment, seaplanes, dredges and so forth, in which he intends to cruise via New Zealand to New Guinea, in the hope of finding at least one island that has not yet been located. The yacht will be 265 ft long, and will cost over £300,000. It will carry a crew of 35, besides 20 scientists. Their activities will centre about Easter Island and other sections of Oceania.
