COMFORT OF A MAN’S STUDY
Ease and something of the casual character of country living should pervade the decorations of summer rooms. Summer offers escape from more than the exotic pursuits of winter. It is a time of letting down, of release from formality, when cares and conventions are blown gaily to the winds, and people dare to live a more sane, natural life. The study is the place to house one’s hobbies and be comfortable in. Inviting furniture and unconventional accessories make one want to linger and browse about at will in the summer study shown in the drawing sketched above. A gay, modern paper covers the walls, which are not lined with bookshelves. Flower prints, maps and portraits also adorn the walls. The work table is placed directly in front of a window so that the worker may feast his eyes upon the results of his outdoor labours and gain inspiration therefrom. No glass curtains hide the view or take away one bit of sunshine and light which is as it should be throughout the country house.
