TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

STANLEY STREET ATTRACTION Tennis enthusiasts will have every opportunity this year of watching the game in comfort. The growth of tennis in the Auckland Province has been phenomenal during the last few years, and the Auckland Tennis Association has had erected a very fine pavilion at the Stanley Street courts, with the object of meeting this growth. The pavilion has a special corrugated roof constructed of heat resisting material. so that onlookers are well protected from the sun’s heat. A large and representative entry has heen received from all parts of New Zealand. Competitors include the holders of the New Zealand championships, and sparkling tennis is assured. The tournament began today at 9 .a.m., and x will be continued on following days, 1 and arrangements have been made for ■ refreshments to be available on the ■ grounds.
