POSTMASTER RETIRES
FAREWELL GATHERING Mr. C. W. Ross, who has occupied the position of postmaster at Onehunga for the past five and a-half years, and is about to retire on superannuation, was tendered a public farewell at the Onehunga Borough Council chambers last evening. The Mayor, Mr. E. Morton: Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P.; Messrs. D. N. KirkJones and Robert Buchanan, all spoke of the courteous and efficient manner in which Mr. Ross had carried out the duties of postmaster and registrar of electors, and regretted that he was leaving the district. Air. Ross suitably responded, humorously referring to the many ups-and-downs of a postmaster’s life. He is taking up his residence in the Nelson district early in the New l Tear.
