RESTRICTIONS TO TRADE
CONVENTION TO ABOLISH POST-WAR OBSTACLES NATIONS CONFER AT PARIS PARIS, Saturday. Britain is one of 25 nations represented at a conference in Paris, at which a convention for abolishing the import and export restrictions imposed as a result of the war and the conditions after the war has been signed. The pact will become effective on January 1, but the signatories are not bound to remove all the restrictions until July. A country may withdraw if those countries whose participation it regards as essential do not join. Britain, the United States and six other countries have signified their unconditional willingness to remove all the restrictions. These must not be confused with tariffs, but are restrictions in the nature of quotas, embargoes and other obstacles to trade.
