LORRY CRASHES OVER BANK ON DARK NIGHT DIES PINNED UNDER VEHICLE Press Association GISBORNE, Today. A motor-lorry proceeding from Gisborne to Ruatoria at 10.30 last night went over a bank on Takapau Hill, a passenger, Mark Borlace, aged 40, being killed. The night was dark, and visibility was bad owing to heavy rain. The driver, Ben Reedy, and another passenger escaped unhurt. Borlace was alive for some time after the accident, but was pinned under the lorry and died before he could be extricated. He was a carter, a married man, and leaves a family of eight young children.
