EFFICIENT POLICE

COMMISSIONER McILVENEY IS PLEASED KUDOS FOR AUCKLAND A tribute to the work done by the Auckland police during the past 12 months was contained in a message received from the Commissioner of Police, Mr. W. J. Mcllveney, on Saturday, by the Auckland superintendent, Mr. W. G. Wohlmann.

The message was read to members of the service at the monthly parade on Saturday by Inspector Hollis. The work done by the Auckland force had been gratifying, said the commissioner, and reflected credit on the Department of Justice and the police. According to Inspector Hollis, “there has been a marked decrease of crime in Auckland during the past year, while there has been greater efficiency in detection.” Two members of the local force, Constables Whitehead and Hayes, had done good work which had earned them the recognition of the commissioner.
