MORRINSVILLE NOTES

A deal in Morrinsville main street property was effected this week, Mr. \V. Hetherington purchasing from Mi. G. Oates the section and shop occupied by Mrs. IX Steel as a fruiterer.

The Morrinsville district is principally known as one of the finest dalry r ing districts in the Dominion. W T hat is not so generally remembered is that a considerable amount of sheep farming is carried on. On Sunday a special train of 62 trucks is to be used to convey 5,000 fat lambs to Auckland. Of this number, 3,000 lambs, which will take 36 trucks, will be loaded at Morrinsville, the other 2,000 lambs coming from stations the other side of Morrinsville, on the Thames line. * * *

At the meeting of the Morrinsville Rechabites’ Lodge the following officers were elected: —Chief Ruler, Bro. W. J. Smith; Deputy Ruler, Sister Thompson; Past Chief Ruler, Bro. A. Gibbs; secretary and treasurer, Bro. G. E. Beswick; steward, Bro. H. Riley; levite, Bro. R. Hayes; guardian, Bro. D. J. West: trustees, Bros. H. Riley and W. T. Smith; auditors, Sister O. Best and Bro. A. Gibbs. After the meeting an enjoyable social and dance was held and supper dispensed. Many guests were present, including brethren from Cambridge.

The first prize-giving - ceremony of the Morrinsvllle District High School was held on Thursday evening, following the annual sports. The review <f the examination successes and athletic activities given in the headmaster’s report showed the school had enjoyed an excellent year in every way.
