LONDON ALTERATIONS An alteration in the London exchange rates, as from December 21, is advised by the Bank of Xew Zealand at Auckland. For the present the following rates will be charged:

BUTTER AND CHEESE A cablegram on December 20 to Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., from the firm’s London office, reported: Butter: Official price for finest, lG4s: market steadier, with rather better inquiry: Danish, 164 s f.o.b. Cheese: "White, 89s; coloured, 87s; white cheese very firm on temporary shortage. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., from Samuel Page and Son. —Butter: The market is very slow. Xew Zealand, finest salted, 156 s to 160 s: Danish, 168 s to 1725; Australian, finest unsalted, 160 s to to 1625; finest salted 154 s to 1575; good average quality, 150 s to 1525. Cheese: The market for Canadian is quiet, and for Xew Zealand steadier Xew Zealand, white, 88s to 89s; coloured. S7s to 88s; Canadian, white, 94s to 9S.s; coloured, 94s to 98s. Joseph Xathan. Ltd., has received the following cablegram from London: Butter: After declining to 158 s, it is now firmer at 160 s, with a better demand. Cheese: Market quiet and prices unchanged.
