FLOODS RECEDE.—The Thames floods continue to fall rapidly, and high spring tides have passed their maximum without incident in London. CLAIM DENOUNCED.—The Journal of the American Medical Association denounces the claim made by a chemist, Mr. K. G. Falk, that he had isolated the influenza germ. MOTOR REGISTRATIONS.—T h e latest monthly report of the British Ministry of Transport states that the number of motor vehicles registered for the first time in September exceeded 17,000, compared with nearly 13.000 new licences in September last year. TREATY WITH EGYPT.—The Under-Secretary for the Colonies, Mr. IV. Lunn, stated in the House of Commons that as soon as the proposals by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Mahmud Pasha, for a treaty with Britain were in a sufficiently concrete form, the Governments of Australia and New Zealand were notified. They would be kept fully informed of all the subsequent developments. MARKET PUBLICITY.—In the. House of Commons the Under-Secre-tary for the Colonies, Mr. W. Lunn, 'vas asked if the Empire Marketing Board would refrain from giving publicity to goods from those Dominions which restricted imports of British manufactures. Mr. Lunn said tho principles on which tho board worked bad often been specified. It would bo inconsistent with its policy to show tho suggested discrimination. FASCIST DISCIPLIX K.—The new constitution of tho Italian Fascist Party has been finally approved and bo enforced immediately by the Grand Council. It affirms that members of the party must have the spirit °f front-line troops and be capable of sacrificing their all in times of stress, and it invites those members who are unable to unrestrictedly conform to stric" discipline to resign within a iveek. ALTERATIONS TO moi.—l n th e House of Commons the Under-Secre-Uuy for Air. Mr. F. Montague, in replying to questions about the airship HlOl, said modifications were being made which the trials had shown to bo desirable. It was proposed further increase the efficiency of the airship by tho insertion of an additional bag. The airship would resume flying as soon as tho alterations were completed. .kaiser tx leave/*—“Pie Welt mn Abend.’’ a Berlin Communist publication, in an unsigned article upon the ex-Kaiser at Doom, attributes to him the following statement:—“When . drive through the Brandenburg Gate * Q Berlin in two or three years' time J shall soon make an end of the red band.” The red band is the Communist badge. Tho paper adds that the ex-Kaiser regards his stay at. Hoorn as “leave.”
