POSTMASTER RETIRES
ONEHUNGA PRESENTATION Prior to their departure for Nelson, i Mr. and Airs. C. W. Ross were enter- j tained by the members of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church lust evening. Air. Ross, who has occupied the position of postmaster at Onehunga for the past five years, is retiring from the service on superannuation. He was presented witli'a leathef* bowl case and Airs. Ross with a set of crystal bowls. In making the presentation, the Rev. D. D. Scot said lie and Air. Ross had been boys together in tho Lake Wakatipu district, where Mr. Ross’s father was the first Presbyterian minister and Air. Scott’s father was one of the elders. Now Air. Ross was one of Air. Scott’s elders. Both he and Airs. Iloss had actively identified themselves with the work of the Onehunga Church and established themselves in the affections of the people. Air. IT. Alurdoch, one of the elders; also paid tribute to the valuable services of Air. and Airs. Ross to the con- < gregation. *■ Air. Ross, suitably re- 1 sponded. Ross, who has had charge of the t Busy Bees’ Closs, was also made the recipient by the class of an enlarged s photograph of its members, together with two handsome bouquets. s
