DUAL-PURPOSE BOAT

USED AS SIDE-CAR BIRKENHEAD NOVELTY ■ A dinghy -which is used as the body o£ a side-car when not in use in the water, is a novelty which has been built by Mr. George McLean of Mo.koxn Road, Birkenhead. The dinghy is bolted to the chassis of the silie-c..!', and makes a comfortable body. Mr. McLean motors his family in it to the beach, and after two bolts arc loosened the dinghy is ready for its legitimate purpose. The idea of building such a combination craft came to Mr. McLean at Manly last summer. The water looked very tempting for a row. but no boat was available, and on his return homo Mr. McLean decided to make a combination boat and sidecar. The dinghy which is made of heart , of kauri, is six feet long and about two and a-half feet wide. It lias a thick upholstered padding for the back seat, and a built in cabinet at the i stern for carrying things when going ' to the seaside. The dinghy is very j light, and can be lifted easily. It cost between £0 aud £S to biuld. !
