SUPERINTENDENT
Pictured here is Miss J. Beatrice Bowman, superintendent of the United States Navy Nurse Corps, who draws
MISS J. BEATRICE BOWMAN a salary of nearly £I,OOO. She was a pioneer of the Navy Nurse Corps, being one of the first appointed when the corps was established in 190 S. She served in France during the war, and was appointed to her present post seven years ago. FOUR BABIES The honours for 1929 in Mussolini’s “More and Better Babies” campaign go to Signora Lucci, who recently gave birth to quadruplets—two boys and two girls. There are already six boys in this Italian woman’s family.
What is known as a millinery chest is a new and welcome addition to the furniture of a woman’s room. Hat-boxes are never pretty, and always kept in inaccessible places, so that the chest is likely to find favour in feminine circles. At the top are double-doored cupboards with shelves for one’s brimmed hats, and below that are three drawers, which take pull-ops and' the small hats.
